Carrie
Biskupiak Receives ASCLS
Board of Directors Award, 2001
The ASCLS Board of Directors and President Cheryl Caskey honored Carrie Biskupiak, MTSCLS President, at the House of Delegates by presenting her with the Board of Directors Certificate of Recognition. Cheryl Caskey presented the 2000-2001 Board of Directors Award in recognition of her exceptional service to ASCLS during the extremely challenging year she faced as President of the Montana Society for Clinical Laboratory Science. Carrie led the battle against the Montana Board of Nursing and the fight for scope of practice. Carrie constantly monitored the situation, seeking input from ASCLS and members, and tried to involve other laboratory organizations. She spent numerous hours working on the legal issues, writing testimonies, and attended hearings. Carrie went above and beyond expectations and has represented the profession of MTSCLS and ASCLS admirably. Her tireless commitment and dedication as well as her enthusiasm for the tasks at hand have been contagious to all those around her. Her leadership has been outstanding.
Dorothy Ahler
ASCLS 2001 Member of the Year Award Nominee
As the President of the Montana
Society for Clinical Laboratory Science, it is an honor to nominate Dorothy
Ahler for ASCLS Member of the Year. This
is an important nomination for someone who serves at the national level of the
Society. Dorothy has a true passion
for the profession of Laboratory Medicine and promotes professionalism in the
laboratory, the State, the Regional and National Societies.
As an active member of ASCLS, Dorothy has held many positions
at the State level. These positions
include, Dist. Chair, Bylaws Chairperson, Newsletter Editor and Publisher, as
well as, a Past President of MTSCLS. Dorothy
unselfishly devotes her time to publishing and editing The
Montana Laboratory News and
provides our members with up to date information on issues concerning the State
and National Society. Dorothy
served as the chairperson for the Fall Education Seminar in 1999 and will serve
again in this capacity in 2001.
In
the last few years Dorothy has broadened her service to the Regional level and
served as a Region VIII council member and is currently serving as the Region
VIII Secretary. With an active
family and career she donates time to the community through her children’s
many activities. She promotes High
School and local events and enthusiastically supports everyone involved.
Committed
to the Society, Dorothy has volunteered to serve as the Publication’s
Chairperson for the 2001 ASCLS National meeting in Chicago.
Again, promoting the profession and the Society.
Dorothy has demonstrated the leadership qualities that are instrumental
to the success of the ASCLS. I can
only hope that her potential leadership will continue to grow with the ASCLS
Member of the Year Nomination and its recognition.
Respectfully
Submitted,
Carrie Biskupiak
